We have a 6 month old springer spaniel (Alfie). He is a normal puppy, full of life and mischeviousness. My husband is a wagon driver and Afie goes with him 4 days a week. The problem we have is when it comes to bedtime, although normally, but not every night he will go to bed (he sleeps in a cage) OK, sometimes he cries from the start. Then at 3:30 to 4:00 every morning he wakes up, he barks howls and sobs all in the same breath. We have tried leaving him, coming down letting him out and then putting him back, but nothing works. He does this every night and we are now at our wits end and need some help. Has anyone else had this problem ? Has anyone any ideas ? HELP !!!!!!!
He's got you well trained hasn't he! ;-)
There is only one thing you can do.................leave him to get on with it. It will mean some sleepness nights for you but basically he he got into the habit of waking up around that time and is calling for you. By 6mths there is no need for him to empty during the night. After this long, it could take over a week to cure, but you mustn't give up.
Good luck,
Claire
