Hi Weezie,

Does she travel in a car cage/crate?  If so, have you tried covering it over so that she can't see out?  It certainly works well with some dogs who get over excited on the outward bound journeys so might be worth a try.

HTH,
regards Teri :)

Ours always bark when they get in the car when they go for a run.  However are quite when we go to a show!  It's just excitment.  Try maybe taking her out in the car, but just having a ride, no walk, unless she is quite!

Charlie started doing this when he was on medication and continued when he was no longer on it and it used to terrify my other dog. Charlie wears a head collar so I kept his lead attached when he was in the car and everytime he  barked I would tug on the lead, he got the idea very quickly and now only barks when he sees another dog.

Thanks for your replies. She doesn't travel in a cage but thinking of buying one as she has a harness but has worked out she can escape but pressing the seatbelt button!! lol! Also will try the idea about just taking her for drives! she is on medication so wonder if that is linked or am i just for an excuse for a noisy pup!!!

Remember not to shout at her as well. I agree with taking her our everywhere and not just for walks. Try and take her to most places that you go but please don't leave her in the car for one moment without you being there! Even if you can see her. That is when most dogs are stolen. If she starts to bark just completely ignore her. A cage is a good idea, I hear about a lady who had two dogs in the back of the car and she crash on a motorway and the back door flew open and one of the dogs ran out and go killed on the motorway the other one ran off and they never found it. So remember to have one so that if the door comes open or and of the window break then your dog can't get out. Good luck with the training

thanx sarah. Think a cage would be good. We dont leave her in car alone, but will make sure i start taking her for drives! We do use a harness as dont want her loose in car but she escapes! any idea where i can get good, reasonably priced cage for car?
