Hi there, I have never had a dandie dinmont before but always had toy poodles in my family, please could you tell me if they molt a great deal, and also how often do they need to be clipped, are they a relatively easy dog to look after, I no longer have a dog, but noticed on cruft's they are now a rare breed. What kind of price could I expect to pay for one, I would not show him, a loving quiet home is awaiting, if suitable.

I'm afraid they do moult the soft undercoat at a fairly steady rate even when brushed daily.  The outer harsh coat is generally hand stripped about every 2 to 3 months and is not too difficult to learn to do, the finishing around the head is rather more tricky to get just right but on the other hand is not too criticial if you do not plan to show.  The Dandie has a lovely weatherproof coat, which when correct forms "pencilling" created by the soft undercoat and harsh outercoat if you have your dog clipped this effect is totally lost together with the weatherproofing to a large degree.  Prices of puppies is high, as I'm sure you will imagine, but the hardest thing is getting one in the first place!  If you are looking for a male then you may find it a slightly easier, as Archer says the only way really is to contact the club who have a puppy coordinator, Mrs Halliwell, who may be able to help you, good luck :)

There's an absolutely gorgeous 5 month old one that goes to my training club called Jethro, he's wonderful.  Not my kind of breed but if they were all like him I think I'd fall for them too :d

There is a good chance they are :) Another thing I like about the breed is they are very consistant in character and temperament.
