Hello everyone

Anybody got any ideas as to why my doberman keeps sticking her rear end in my direction when she wants to be petted??

She doesn't really like here head being stroked and prefers me to stroke her back end!!!!

Is this a Dobie trait, or have I just got a weird one?

She has always done this and is now 2 1/2

Abby(dobe) does this she like you to scratch just above her tail and she makes a sound almost like she is purring so I must have a weirdo as well lol.

My girls do this too.Apparantly the rubbing on the base of the tail mimicks the feel they get when they're being mated :o

Charlie stands over casey if she's lying down on the floor as if to say come on then clean it for me (his manhood) and she does everytime. He also shoves his ears into her face and she cleans them also. She doesn't get that many kisses off me now.

My Dobe does it and my mates Dobe does it -they would both prefer to have their bums scratched than their heads petted

Yep - Sparky does this, though Busby shoves his nose in your face instead.

My bullmastiff does this. I have been told when a dog does that to take it as a compliment as they trust you enough to give you the toothless end!!

the area above the tail is a sensitive area for every dog, you'll find most dogs prefer to be stroked there.
many who do get regular attention in this area develop certain trades for getting you to stroke them there.

my friends sheepdog backs its butt into my friend while my GSD abbie will put er face side on to the ground with her front legs and stick her butt high into the air above her - hehe cracks me up every time

my border collie does it to i used to think it was a spot she couldnt reach to scratch :D Now i know different :)

Bradley used to do that as if he was parking a car. He used to reverse backwards and then look at you for a quick tickle.

Every dobe I have owned has done this - males as well as females - every one of them has also been a blanket sucker :D :D :D

My old girl Dilita who passed away last year used to shove her bum up in the air and loved to be tickled there.  We used to call her sexy bum.  Anton also does it and so does my new boy Lastar, maybe it's also a Spanish Water Dog trait :d  They look so cute when they do it!

Oh and talk about blanket suckers.  Lastar when he first came from Spain used to walk around with the blanket in his mouth, now unfortunately Anton does it to, no fun when you are actually on the blanket and Anton's trying to pull it from your feet :d

keisha (gsp) does this 2 me 2, especially when im tryign 2 put socks on because off course my feet are in the position for stroking her not for putting my socks on!!!! she also rubs her whole body on me or furniture, starting with her head down and then throughs it up and this pattern waves throughout her body, whilst she makes purring type noises.

she does this 2 the male lab but then when he sniffs her she turns round and growls at him.

dogs are weird arent they!!? but we love them all the same

Hollie prefers bum rubbing to anything else. I also noticed when I do rub her bum (good lord!) She licks her lips!

Glazby also likes to have his bum rubbed.  He has a way of coming and standing next to you and then somehow lifts his back leg so that its over my foot and then expects me to rub my foot under there!!
