Hello
My bitch SBT had 7 pups last night, its her second litter, with her first litter the third born was stillborn and it was the same with this litter. When I took her to the vets he said that it could be of the positionning inside her but not to worry so much because you have 6 seemingly healthy puppies but Ive just checked her and the pups and one is dead. She was cold to the touch but tried in vain to resuscitate her but it didnt work could it be that my bitch has squashed her or something as obvious as that or am I in danger of losing anymore? The pup seemed intact with traces of milk in its mouth. If anyone could shed some light on this I would really appreciate it as am panicking now.

I cant really help you sorry :-(

Try not to worry if all the other pups look healthy - I am sure someone who can help will be along soon.

If you are worried though phone your vet - even just to speak on the phone.

If all looks well then accidental crushing or asphiziation is the most likely cause.  Sadly no matter how vigilant it soes sometimes happen.  I had it happen in a bitches 2nd litter (let me with 4 pups) even though she had no problems 3 years earlier with a litter of 9 showing no clumsiness and the utmost care.  I think both she and I were just very tired after a long whelping.
