Topic Dog Boards / Breeding / Bleeding after Mating...

Hi
I have mated my Bullmastiff bitch for the first time 4 days ago, (after 3 pre-mate tests) everything went o.k., she's continued having a small amount of pink coloured discharge, but today it looks a lot more red, Is this normal?

The days my girls are mated the colouring is very watery/pinky looking, a couple of days later it goes quite red again, give it another couple of days and it should be gone altogether!

Good luck

Thank you for your reply, this is the first time for me as well as my dog and it's nice to be reassured, I shall keep an eye out. What if theres  no change after a few more days, should I consult the vet?

This happened the first time I mated my dog. I was really worried but she went on to have a healthy pregency and a lovely litter of pups.

She is simply moving into the last stage of her season, when the blood is usually darker.  It is quite normal, whether she has been mated or not.

All is well 10 days after mating, thanks for your advise.

That's good news.
