You really need some sound one to one advice from an experienced behaviourist, not advice from an internet forum :( You vet should be the best person to recommend a local member of the UKRCB or APBC, or an APDT member with an interest in behaviour.

You'll have to do the work, but it needs an experienced person to actually witness the dog's behaviour to advise you on what to do. The wrong course of action could make matters worse, rather than better.

Im suprised that rescue let you take a  rott that would attack small children--and you have grandkids  :(

They never had time to assess her they asked me to pick her up from were she was found she seem ok with the dog warden they had not had her in a home so they did not know at the time

Assesing them is part and parcel of rehoming,    i hope its all ok for you, as you seem to care, but dont ever put children at risk, yours or anyone elses,    shes maybe be better in a  home in the middlle of nowhere and no kids for miles. -good luck

thanks i do care i feel responsible for her now it would seem she has been beaten in her last home as she was very hand shy she is not hand shy now she knows i wont hurt her she is just very very teritorial she will spring board off the fence if next doors kids are in the garden so i have to make sure they are not out befor i let her out i have had a lean to built on to the back of my house so i can keep her in there when she can cause a problem but it is wearing me down worrying about her
