Has she had her hearing checked? What colour is she? White coated dogs can carry a genetic deafness problem...

Hi Dinah :)
Is she a rescue or has your sis had her from a pup :)
hi lel,she got her when she was 8 wks,i think she may be doing it 4 attention,my sis oh works away all week she has a 3 year old daughter and another one due any day,sis was saying this morning she used to do sit, down, paw etc but now if she asks, rosie(the dog) will just ignore her.she put her out last night into the garden before bed called her back in and rosie didn't want 2 no she ended up calling father in law up 2 come round,he got there called her once she came in sat down and waited 4 belly rub ,sis was quite upset
hi digger, no she hasn't had her hearing checked, colour brindle

She's probably well aware there are changes going on in the house, and, as you say, has found a very effective way of redirecting some attention onto her self. I think a little 'nothing in life is free' could help to redress the balance - making the dog earn every bit of reward (food or fuss) - divide the daily food rations up so each bit has to be earnt - maybe by coming on when called...... If she starts barking, call her, offering a food reward, but then ask her to do something she's already be trained to do (such as 'sit') before she gets the reward - if this is carried out consistently, she'll start to forget that barking was being rewarded, and that doing as you are told DOES get nice rewards.
