Topic Dog Boards / Health / Is wormer causing unsettled behaviour?
- By 9566 [gb] Date 16.03.05 12:22 UTC
Hi,
We have just wormed our chocolate lab with Panacur granules (Sun-Tues). For the last three nights, she has started to whine again. This starts as we go to bed for 20 minutes or so and then happens another couple of times during the night. Does anyone know if the wormer could be causing this and therefore it will stop shortly, or is that just coincidence and it is the start of something more permanent (separation anxiety?)? She whined the first night we had her but has not done so since (nearly 4 weeks). If it may be separation anxiety, has anyone any advice on what to do next?

Many thanks for any advice, it is gratefully received.

I don't believe there's any behavioral changes associated with worming.  Meatball experienced a strange bought of diarhea when I wormed him...perhaps your pup's stomach is upset and the whining is sort of a secondary reaction to the worming?

I agree Mr.Spock, we wormed Kobi last week (13 week old lab) and it really did upset his stomach quite alot, he also is a quite confident pup who doesn't whine much and he had a really bad unsettled few nights after worming. He seems fine now, we are going to see if it happens again next time we worm him or whether it was just a coincidence.

ah well i know where you are coming from!! i have a 10 month old choccie lab male and when he was wormed the first few times he had unsettled nights. he was in a crate at night and had never made a noise in the night not even the first night we had him!! but this one particular night he cried and barked for 5 hours!!!! then the next night nothing! then a month later when we wormed him again he did it all over again!! it was then we decided it was the wormer giving him a tummy ache or something. he did it at 6 months aswell but this last time i wormed him at 9 months he was fine. altho this was the first time he was wormed and wasnt in a crate so i dont know if he paced instead of whining as if he had a belly ache he would probabkly of been very uncomfortable just in his crate. his 2 sisters were fine so it doesnt seem to affect every dog but it def did mine and must of been wormers as no other common links

I found panacur always upset my pups, changed to Drontal Puppy and they've been absolutely fine!  Would never go back to Panacur again

This is why I perfer to use a Natural Wormer.100% Safe
Been using them for years and no problems with side affects.

Some people agree with them some people don't.

I say everybody to there own.

Only trouble with chemical wormers are that they are very harsh and quick.

I worm throughout the whole year therefore maintaining a constant protection all the whole year.
The Natural wormer I use is an Ant-Parasitic preparation which I have for the whole Year.I give my dog a small amount two days a month.
Comes in powder or Liquid.

If you need more information contact me and I will e-mail you with site.

I am not sure as I am NEW on here and not sure if I can put the site name on.?????????????????

Thanks Isabel

I have used this practice for years.

They did have a site called WYKKEN but it closed they have an agent who has set up an ebay shop and a website.

You can access these at Folklore.Directory4Shopping.co.uk or the ebay shop at http://stores.ebay.co.uk/Folklore-Products.

The best bit I found was once I had my first order they included there tel:number and if any problems you can talk to the owner who is very experinced in all Animal Health.

I have noticed over the years that companys if you look seem to be returning to including Natural ingredients in there products.

...............WHY.............. well must tell you something.                           Still suppose thats another topic
