I didn't realize just how obsessed my dog was, until last week.
She is a beautiful german shepherd girlie and although she likes balls and toys to throw, she gets bored after a short time, this used to make it difficult to get her to run and get exercise unless I ran with her, in which case I'm worn out long before her.
Anyway Since she was a puppy I have always walked her over our local fields, as the grass grew longer to eventually waist high, I could only walk round the edges of the fields where it's shorter, then one morning we discovered the council had come along and cut the grass, loose grass everywhere, and I just started to kick it in the air, and Macey started to chase it, until it was baled up.
I then found that if I picked some grass and threw it, macey loved chasing it, however if there's no wind it doesn't go very far, but the excitement on maceys face as I pick clumps of grass is a picture. I now have a dog that is totally obsessed with grass, she doesn't eat it or anything, just chases after it and spits it out, with her jaws snapping together trying to get every little blade.
I didn't realize just how obsessed she was until last week when she saw another dog, on a few occasions she has ignored me when I have called her to come back, but now I've actually cracked it and found that all I have to do is say "grass" in an excited voice, and that was it, she couldn't care less about anything else, just me and a clump of grass.
Haven't figured out what I'm going to do on the beach yet though?
Anyone else's dogs love grass as much as mine?
Mine dosnt bother about grass but is completely obsessed with stones, he is a 4 yro male staff. When I take him up on the field at the back of my house all he wants to do is find a stone and dig round it and pull the grass out of the ground, then he carries the stone somewhere else and does it all again!! Its funny just to watch the excitement on his face because you can see he is in his element! He would do it all day if i let him.
