Does anyone know of any way that you can record a phone call on a mobile? Ive been having death threats and threating texts from my ex for 3 years now and ive now had enough and want to take him to the police!
- By Isabel Date 10.03.05 09:18 UTC
I have a feeling you are not allowed to record a call without the callers permission.  I would just speak to the police about it, particularly if you have texts to show them, and leave it to them.

Thanks, i have kept the texts from last night but unfortuntely deleted the last 3 years worth so i think i will wait til i get some more before i go. I have a son to this man and he has never got over me leaving him, as he was a violent drunk (who i stuck for 7 years). He has not only threatened to kill me but also my fiance. I wish he would just leave us alone.

My friend had this and the police also told her to make a note of everytime he called her and threatened her.
Good luck

THanks i will do. I did take him to court before, 2 years ago and on the day i attended, stupid me dropped the charges because he left me alone for 6 months, since then he hasnt stopped, this time i wont be dropping the charges.

It depends what mobile you have, i can record calls on mine its a Sony Ericsson K700i.  But like Isabel said i think you are supposed to have the callers permission but not sure.

Hi  minniedog you can get onto your phone company and ask them for a refuse option on your phone, the same goes for your landline bt offer several packages also bt will put a trace on your landline then once enough evidence is recorded hand this over to the local police station for them to take action for you,

Hi thanks for that. Im not with BT im with Telewest Broadband and i phoned them to change my home number but they wouldnt let me but gave me an option to block witheld numbers at a cost which didnt work cos he could still get through. Ive contacted the police and i am going to see them. My mobile company said i can change my number for £70 or free if i get an incident number, so hopefully they will give me one. Thanks everyone for your help.

Get back in touch with your solicitor and police now as he needs to be sorted out. You should not be living in fear :)

Minnie dog.
Quote the anti harrasement act to the police.
Alot dont know about it. If they dont, get them to check up. Its the one they use to charge people for stalking celebs.
I had the same from my ex husband (who I also have 2 children with)  And they cautioned him once. Only had proof of one email. And if he did it again, he would be arrested, held in police custody over night and then put in front of court the next day. He was sectioned not long afterwards, so didnt need to go into the direction of the calling them again, but bet I will in the future.
But I had called the police on several occasions before that and all they said was it was a domestic. And never even mentioned anti harrasement act. Even tho he was threatening me and my family.
Make sure Police give you an icident number, and I am sure there must be a way to get your number changed with Telewest. Ring again, you may find someone else knows a way of doing it that the original person didnt know as they had just started etc.
The only number my ex husband knows is the office number. He doesnt know mine, or mums home number

Thanks very much everyone! Youve all been so caring. This man has made my life hell and have only just come to realise that he is the cause of my panic attacks. He gets me so down and it cant be very nice for my fiance either. He made my life hell while i was with him and is still doing it now, that makes it nearly ten years of physical, emotional and mental abuse. Enough is enough now and im definately going to do something about it. He is the biggest regret of my life and the only good thing that came out of it was my 8 yr old son. Again, thanks everyone xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

How did you get on Minniedog?????
- By Brunodog Date 16.03.05 21:32 UTC
Well i got a call from domestic violence as i emailed them for info. Then i tried 3 times to phone the police, 1st time i was hanging on the phone for 15 minutes before hanging up, 2nd time i was on there 20 minutes before hanging up and the 3rd time i was on another 10 minutes before hanging up, i was in a queue everytime because the line was so busy (Sheffield Police Headquarters). So ive now decided to wait til i get some more texts, as since the last time i got threatened, he hasnt sent anymore, but its guaranteed that he will, and when he does, i dont care how long its gonna take, i never thought id say this but i wish now he would send me some more, ive kept the last 2. Thanks Lea for asking, i will keep u posted on here, its nice to know someone cares xxxx

We're with Telewest Broadband too, when we were broken into, they took our phone number with them and we had calls day and night, but Telewest changed our number free of charge!
