iam fairly new to this game own dogs for a while but only just starting to get intrested in maybe showing e.t.c so i thought perfect place to learn ill take more notice of crufts this year couldnt get tickets as family and work commiments meant i couldnt go to the shows so i thought ill watch it on telly!! how wrong was i an 1 hr show everynight i dont think thats enough i thought bbc 2 might of had more coverage on the show lets face they take all the programes off for snooker and cricket and indoor bowls but they could only find the time for an 1hr slot for crufts so i think iam going to book my tickets early for next years show and juggle family e.t.c about and go to crufts plus iam going to write to the bbc and find out why they couldnt give more time to crufts and hopefully next year we might get proper coverage of the event!! so lets lobby the bbc for it on behalf of all those people who cant make next years show and get more on telly ( rant over) :)

you are quite right. we are supposed to be a nation of dog lovers so the BBC doesnt have the excuse that it is a minority interest! I am new to the wider interest of dogs like yourself. Although I have to say I loved every minute of the BBC coverage. I went to Crufts (terrier & hound day) last year and just couldnt get the time off work this year, but there'll be no stopping me next year as I felt like I had truly missed out over the last 4 days!

Actually, the coverage was much better this year. At last they have listened to the dog lovers and at least gave a glimpse of each best of breed.

i agree with you the coverage was a lot better that isnt the problem iam sure the bbc could alter there programme schedule for 1 weekend a year to show most of the events :)

I thought the ocverage was much better this year too. And remember, The Horse of The Year Show, which used to be prime time BBC viewing, has not TV coverage at all anymore! Generally I would rather have the time we have now - is it about 4 house over all? Than extend the coverage with a whole load of waffle such as last year Westmmister segments - I would love to see a programme on Westminster, but not cutting inot the Crufts time.

I thought the coverage was alot better this year! but thought there was to much waffle about nothing on it! also maybe presenters who know more about dogs!?!? Definatly need more coverage on just general showing and maybe a bit on the juniors, after all they are the future of dogs!
I thought the coverage was alot better this year. As to the presenters I have to say I like Richard Hammond as he is asks the questions that many of us who dont show would ask. He sees it from a general pet owner point of view. Although I do agree that one of the presents should be a bit more knowledgeable.
Its a shame that they couldn't do what they did for the olympics and have several different things on interactive. It seems that to fit it all into one programme a night you just end up with brief snippets of "and this also happened." For example they showed a 10 second clip of the southern golden retriever display, which i managed to miss at DD, and would loved to have watched the whole thing. It was definately an improvement on last years coverage though.
