My friend's mother rescued a male Westie, unfortunately she wasn't given full detais of the dogs temperament and he has tried to bite her granddaughter, scared the grandson and bitten her daughters dog (not badly). She is unable to keep him but wants to make sure he goes to a good, experienced home. Could someone maybe give me the number of someone in her area that may be able to help, he is great with her, loving and fun, so she is happy to keep him until a good home is found, he has his KC papers so perhaps his breeder could be traced?

try www.westierescuescheme.org.uk - although it might be an idea to speak to whomever she got the rescued westie from. I am interested to learn how long she has had the rescued westie and if she has considered that the poor little thing needs a little tlc - yes dogs can bite but generally it is out of fear. In my experience a dog will only bite when antagonised. I dont wish to sound harsh but maybe a rescued westie, or any other breed for that matter, should be given time to experience his or her own home before children are brought into their world. It is not the dogs fault he is frightened.

Finally logged in!

Thanks for the link, will take a look soon.  The person who gave her the dog is not interested, they said he was good with kids, she has had him about a month and has had a Westie before, and visits her daughter regularly who has 2 children, 8 and 2, and 2 dogs of her own.  The kids are fine with my dogs, including my temperamental ACD.  Either way, she feels unable to keep him, so the best I can do is try and help her find the best home possible, unfortunately I'm not a Terrier person, so do not have the personal experienced to help her.

Also meant to say she lives near Great Yarmouth.

I am waiting for a call from my friend, if she has the name I will mail you, many thanks, he seems like a nice boy, he just has a few issues and no training to speak of!

Thanks, Hayley
