Topic Dog Boards / Health / Sick when he has cold things
- By jesssy [gb] Date 13.03.05 21:18 UTC
Hi
I hope someone can shed some light or reassurance at least. My parents Wire Fox Terrier has over the last few months started being sick if he has anything cold.  He has always enjoyed playing with an ice cube but if he eats it he vomits, same with anything cold from the fridge and also when it snowed.  At the moment we avoid giving him cold things but ideally we would like to feed him more raw food, which is difficult if he can't have cold things.
Any ideas
Jessy

Sorry , i can think of a way round it myself, apart from avoiding anything cold, you could still give raw just at room temp, like you would dried or tinned .

Can you not let the raw food get to room temp. before you give it to him?
I've had two dogs who were sick if they ate something that was a bit too warm for them. Its probably just natures way of rejecting something the stomach doesn't appreciate.

Alot of dogs get upset tums from eating food straight out of the fridge, not to mention it wouldnt be too appetising, stone cold food, yuk!

I feed raw to my dogs, they get it at room temperature,i either put it in a plastic baggie and heat it up in a bowl of hot water or microwave it for 8-10 seconds,or defrost it on the kitchen sink. They say dogs like food at blood temperature the best :) I also heat up their raw meaty bones in hot water,i never microwave them tho!
