Hi

Changing your Cocker's diet alone won't help her lose weight - you need to combine feeding less with more exercise (same as for us humans!) You don't say what you are feeding your Cocker on? Sometimes the premium complete foods are too high in protein for a Cocker & it can help to change to a food that is around the 20% mark or alternatively you could try one of the "light" formula complete foods specially made for less active dogs & those prone to weight gain. I've always found just cutting the amount fed (whatever the diet) & increasing exercise should do the trick - though I know Cockers are expert at persuading their owners they are starving when they're not, so this isn't always easy :-)

Hi jane

I was feeding my cocker on bakers complete and I stopped feeding her on that started to feed her on pedigree chum 40% fat free. She goes out for walks in the woods and I started to take her running with me but she wasn't keen on the running.

Hi Gemma

Sounds like you are doing all the right things, so it's just a matter of time. Has your bitch had a season recently by the way? I've found our bitches can get a bit podgy after their seasons but go back to their slim-line selves after a couple of months as long as I watch how much they eat. I also exercise my lot in woods - usually about two 45 minute sessions a day is enough to keep them in show condition
