In a large breed can a scan be successful in seeing if there is any puppies, the reason i'm asking a friend of mine mated her rottwieler on the 14 of jan,15th 16th dog looks like it's pregnant but when she went the vets the dog kept wriggling while getting the scan, vet could'nt see anything and that she could do an xray, the owner decided no because of ansetic risks.  The problem is her dog is huge and very deep chested her stomach has dropped and the vet told her the dog had gained two kg since november.  The vet also said she had some fluid in her uterus but it could be she's having a phantom, i dont know much to offer her any advice can anyone else help.  The dog has had all the necessary health checks.

I have had a rottie bitch scanned and been told she isnt in pup only to find she had 2 puppies
(I did take her for the last scan at 6 weeks and this confirmed).
I also have a rottie bitch that has never been mated but has recently had a bad phantom
to the point of teats swelling she was hormonal and I even doubted myself that she wasnt in pup.

Where in the country are you?

If you put in scans in the search section (top right) you will find loads of info.
