OK this will seem weird I know....but I am looking for an artificial tree stump :) perhaps fibreglass, or resin or moulded styrene?
I need one for a shoot & the real thing is too heavy. I saw one at Focus exhibition last week but it was nearly £150!!! Does anyone have a clue where I couod source one? Maybe a garden centre? We dont have one of those round here....well its 40 miles away....and I have tried ebay :) but no luck. It needs to be a double stump, one stump about 2' high & the other 1' to 1'6" high.

Hi Sam,

There used to be a shop local to me (Glasgow) that supplied faux plants, trees etc but they were extortianate!  I just googled "artificial plants" and there were lots of links including one (on right of screen) for a company that supplies same for stage props - so they may well have what you're after ;)  Again might be too pricey though ...

Is there any chance you could hollow out a real stump (assuming you can source the ideal size) to make it less weighty?
Just an idea - but maybe a c*#p  one  since I can't picture in my head what you're trying to do!

Sam,
Is there a local museum or theatre in darkest Devon? Surprising what they may have squirreled away and be willing to lend

Have you thought of trying falconry supplies?
My friend has several tree stumps (resin) for her owls.

Good god ....totally off subject I know, but I wouldnt DREAM of putting a raptor on a resin stump & cannot imagine any responsible falconry supplier selling such!!! Ours always have had wooden blocks or leather covered bows....but never resin :(

I thought it was resin, i wouldnt know. I havent actually touched it. its got a covering of some kind. I dont go into the aviary, ive looked in a few times thats it.
I was probably mistaken and it could well be made from another material.

Not sure if this is a good or bad suggestion but could you not drill the inside or part of the inside out to make it lighter :-) just a thought.
