Topic Dog Boards / General / We Appear to be Missing the Point...
- By Melodysk [gb] Date 08.03.05 17:57 UTC
The point people is missing is ....

GUEST posts ...guests being given sarcastic replies and none helpful comments

That was the point I tried to make originally ;) Other replies, especially amongst established members is fine. There have been occasions when someone has taken MAJOR offence at someone else disagreeing with them but then that is down to the individuals.

It seems to have degenerated (yet again) into a he said, she said thing...and the fluffy versus the none fluffy stuff. All of which is flim flam ...

When a Guest posts ...IF you think it is a troll post ..don't reply. IF you decide to reply, make it a helpful reply

Simple innit?

;) :D

Okay Mel I can see your point, but how would you have just answered the guest posting about Border Terrier Puppies.

As I have read it, this is a person who already breeds from two breeds, one an easy seller, the other not, and are trying to jump on the bandwagon of the popularity of my breed.

If they are in the least bit interested in their other breeds other than from the fact of making money out of them, then they would have contacts through them who would be able to point them in the direction of a good BT breeder, therefore they would not have to try and find a pup on a forum like this.

Everyone may think I was short and curt in my reply, but in no way was someone who IMO has £££ signs instead of heart going to get any encouragement from me to enable them to exploit my breed.

Does anyone else think that the guests posts at the moment may well be all from several people with a grudge that are out just to cause trouble??????
Lea :)
- By Melodysk [gb] Date 08.03.05 19:25 UTC
Errr.....yes!! :D :D Think that goes without saying Lea ;)
- By Lady Dazzle [in] Date 08.03.05 19:25 UTC
That is exactly what I think Lea, must be a full moon or something bringing them all out together!!
- By Spook [gb] Date 08.03.05 19:28 UTC
Several people who all like '!!!!!!' and need spell check? I think 2 people having a laugh more likely :)
- By Jeangenie [gb] Date 08.03.05 19:28 UTC
Or are they all from the same person? Who knows?
- By Melodysk [gb] Date 08.03.05 19:29 UTC
But, amazingly enough, people are STILL adding to an obvious troll post , I give up
- By Jeangenie [gb] Date 08.03.05 19:33 UTC
There seem to be so many today (what's so special about today? ) that I don't know which ones are more obvious than others any more!

If we don't reply we're being snobby and cliquey, if we do reply then we're feeding them ... catch 22.
:(
- By Melodysk [gb] Date 08.03.05 19:34 UTC
Show one post where someone has accused us of being snobby and cliquey for not replying to a completely obvious troll post JG
- By Jeangenie [gb] Date 08.03.05 19:39 UTC
It's the ones that aren't completely obvious that cause the most trouble. :( The ones (and there are many) where it might possibly be a genuine question, and is replied to in good faith, and then other 'guests' start slanging the advice someone else (?) was given.
- By Daisy [gb] Date 08.03.05 19:43 UTC
If a guest question is questionable :) - then ONE decent answer should be enough (maybe suggesting that the guest joins to ask more). Other people should then desist from joining in :) What really bugs me is people who obviously don't like the question, but just HAVE to say something :(

Don't forget - sometimes less is more :)

Just my very humble opinion here but I think one guest was offering a genuine opinion and another saddo has thought it would be a good idea to keep making stupid comments to keep getting a reaction.  It is starting to get very personal and unpleasant lets hope it stops soon and we get back to dog talk.  Dogs are much more interesting than trolls unless you Billy Goat Gruff anyway :)

What is so special about  today ???

It's the 5th anniversary of Harold Shipman being convicted of murder and the 22nd of people having to wear seatbelts. Do either of them make you feel grumpier :D :D
