Hi my name is sharney.

Does anny one know some one who breeds cocker spaniels that will be born soon.
I love cocker spaniels. I have been looking for one for ages the price i have seen is £375 i think it is to much. the need to be not far away from cornwall.

WE REALY REALY WANT ONE.

I think £375 is a good price.  Not sure of the normal rate though but you don't get well bred pups for nothing!

Edit to say:  Changed my mind after look at cocker sites.  Seems £500 is more the way to go!

I am afraid in life you get what you pay for.  I would be more concerned with what conditions they are being kept in, what health checks they have had, what the pedigree is like, etc.  I think £375 sounds more than reasonable.  At the end of the day what would you prefer a cheap dog that will cost you a lifetime of bills or a decently raised and health checked puppy which will give you a lifetime of pleasure for the sake of a couple of hundred quid I know which I would prefer.

£375 is very cheap and I would be worried about the quality of pup you'll get for that!

I think in the North this would not be regarding as particularly cheap, I suppose it is a market forces thing and perhaps down in the West Country where geography might perhaps limit demand it might also be a reasonable price but I don't really know.

I live in the West Country and breed cockers (NONE AT THE MOMENT SO I'M NOT ADVERTISING) and know of many breeders this way, I don't know of any show type cockers being sold under £500 that have had all the relevant health checks.............hence me saying, I would be worried!

Woman near me breeds "show"(in that they aren't working ones)& charges £400 + & they have no health tests etc She puts the same thought into breeding her GSDs last litter were £500 & the mother has epilepsy !!!

I paid £550 for mine and she was 2½ years old when I bought her six months ago.

The cost varies depending on whether or not you have a working or show variety.

I paid £500 each for both my show and working cockers in Scotland just 2 years ago.  If a cocker was advertised at £375 for a pedigree, KC reg pup from health tested parents, I'd be very surprised..

Oh well, at least I couldn't have been accused of "being in it for the money"!!!  (Health test included)!!
