Anyone see this article on page 9 of today's Daily Telegraph? It's based on a survey of 2000 dog owners, which shows it costs an average of £20,000 to care for an animal over its lifetime. What do you think?
worth every penny and them some !

But how long would a BMW last, and how much would you spend on servicing and MOT for 10-15 years......... I think £20K for a dog is an exageration, and the costs don't end when you buy the car so it's not really a fair comparison.

I would quite believe it especially if a dog is not insured. Every time I come back from the shopping theres a treat/toy/accessory for my dog and she's not the most pampered pet i know. it all adds up - especially the vets fees!

A child costs as much as a rolls royce! I think if we add up vet fees, toys, food general care etc then yes we are talking that much! it's over 10+ years normally!

And just think of the extra cost to breed and show

We could be millionaires without the dogs!!!!!!
But then what would we do at weekends? And how will we meet new exciting (mad) friends?

ouch i own 2 dogs a bmw and i smoke never realy thought about the cost before.
Ooh dont tell hubbie he will want another fast car!

Well a smoker would spend that much on cigarettes over 10 years easy. So would someone who ges to the pup or goes clubbing once a week. :D
I don't drink or smoke. I went out to a club in December for my step Mums 40th (we are same age) and we chose an 80's bar (as they seem to be called now), but the last time I had been to one (they were Disco's then( was in the 80's :D :D :D
Aaah Discos they were the days. :)
