My bitch has just turned 2 and I am thinking of breeding with her in the summer. I need advice on finding a black and tan suitable male.

Most people would advise you to ask the advice from the breeder you got your girl from before deciding to breed. Failing that make the effort to go along to shows and meet other owners/breeders of dobes. You'll get a better idea of what 'you' think is suitable for your girl, a better idea of what type of puppies you aspire to produce. If you take the time to get to know more experienced breeders the whole process will be alot better for you and your girl, you'll have experienced advice and support helping you along.

As your past posts mentioned an irregularity with her season you should get the vet to check her out thoroughly before taking any further action.

I am assuming you have already had her Hip Scored and Eye Tested, adn tested for her Von Willebrands Status.  This will enable you to choose a stud to prevent pups being born with this bleeding disorder.

Hi Louise

If you wish you can contact me with regard to health testing of Dobermanns  - there are lots of young Dobes in rescue at the moment as well so please think very carefully before breeding from your bitch

I have sent a swab for DNA testing to check whether VWB disease is in her genes and will only persue with other tests if that is OK.
