Topic Dog Boards / Visitors Questions / Pancreatic cancer in 13 year old dog
- By Guest [gb] Date 07.03.05 12:35 UTC
Hi
I am looking for anyone with information please about pancreatic cancer in dogs.  The cancer has been confirmed by our vet, with x-ray, blood tests, scan and needle biopsys mid Februaury 2005. The reason we knew something was probably wrong was that she was losing weight and had lost her appetite some days.(She has lost 1.4kg in around 6 weeks). We started to hand feed but is generally eating out of her bowl again.  She is now eating around 400g of canned dog meat and fresh cooked chicken usually on her own without the need of hand feeding her.  I read that there is no  treatment for panacreatic cancer but am hoping that someone may have some information to give as I have been unsuccessful in finding anything on the web.  Apparently it is a rare type of cancer to get in a dog.  I am looking to find out anything that anyone knows to help us give her the best life we can give her, particularly signs to look for to show deterioration of the condition and if anyone can give me any indication of time we might have left. She is 13 and is generally in good form right now, enjoying her walks and quite lively considering age and health.

Thanks
Kaz and Trixie
