Forgive my total ignorance here, but if a dog is whelping, does this mean that her puppies are on the way very soon?
I only ask as we have are buying a puppy from a breeder and he has just informed up that the bitch is definately whelping.

Many Thanks

When the breeder says that his bitch is definitely whelping, he means that she is definitely "in whelp" - in other words - she is expecting puppies (whelps!!!) .

Hope that helps you - why don't you register - you're obviously going to have lots of questions to ask, and we can all help with the answers - you've got at least 6 weeks to think about everything, and ask questions.

I would suggest that you get a copy of The Perfect Puppy by Gwen Bailey - it will help you to get things ready, and learn more about everything.

Regards
Margot
