Topic Dog Boards / General / Grooming tables advice

I'm looking for a grooming table.  Been watching e-bay for awhile but the prices they go for, plus the costs to either have delieverd or pick it up work out the same as buying a new one roughly so have decided on a new one.  I'm not botherd about wheels as its for home use only so it would be cheeper not to get wheels.  Anyway can anyone give me advise on what to look for in a table.  Anyone got one from anywhere in particular.  One that maybe seems sterdier then others.  It will be holding setters and will need to buy a 42" X 24"

Thanks

I think Snooze N Snacks are probably the best , if you go to a show you can generally get something a bit cheaper also.  The shipping of them is expensive from these guys.

I have 2 , my first one has medium wheels from Simpsons ( around £150)  Postage about £10

Just bought another one from Snooze N snacks in the summer last year , the big wheeled one , it was around the £180 mark..

If you don't need wheels dont get them :-))
buy the table only  . both simpsons and Snooze do an ok free standing one.
If you are ever likely to need the wheels then get that one now. I wish I had bought the bigger one first time.

I am still deciding on whether to get hydraulic type for home but trying to justify the cost at the moment as I have spent about £1500  getting my grooming room done in the last few months . it is big enough to take this type of table though.

My other half is a joiner/carpenter and made my first home grooming table from a new kitchen unit 800 in size. Put MDF on the top and I got a sheet of the mating at a show.  2 doors, 2 working drawers. and on lockable wheels.  Brilliant. You can store all your stuff in it and wheel it about.. was cheap enough to make

Thanks, I am not going to need wheels as it will never be coming anywhere like shows, except maybe the odd show where we need a table for dogs in the ring.  I'm planning on getting it at crufts.  so no postage and packing.  I want to buy one so it folds down (not a big house)

Thanks for your help, will pay snooze and snack a visit! :)

Think we got ours at Snooze & snack at Crufts in 2003, Rox - it folds down flat - we got the H frame as well - which works well with all our Aussies apart from Thor (he's not going to stand on any flashy table - and you needn't think he will!!!:) ) I can't quite remember how much it was - I'll try & find the receipt & post to you later if I do find it.   We didn't get wheels - if we take it to a show, we lash it onto the trolly we bought which will also hold a crate (if we need one) plus a couple of folding chairs!  But - it is big enough for an Aussie!  And it folds flat - it's also useful if you need to do a boot fair!!

One word of advice though - we've always lifted ours onto the table & lifted them off - just don't want to risk any accidents through jumping off before we're ready for them to get down!

I got the one from Simpsons which has been in daily use for the past 6 years.  I think it hydraulic you pump it a bit like a hospital bed.  I think they are about £600 but I think they do a better deal if you buy at shows.

Margot, not to worry, I'm not having setters jump on or off due to flooring is laminate so I don't need any broken legs!  Though a 34k dog is going to be hard to lift, he might take 2 people!!!

Thats my other thing...H frame or arm?  Whats going to be better?  I will need something told hold them still as many times I'm left grooming on my own and when it comes to trying to get a coat to lay flat it takes time and a dog staying still!

Ooohhh I'm getting all excited now not long till I get my table!  I will have no worries about taking it to shows, us red and white people don't do grooming tables.  We do brush and comb before we get in the ring, maybe in the ring aswell sometimes!   We're not yet like the aussies where its lots to do at the show!!! YET!

T-T-S I would like a hydrolic but I think the price is a bit to much for me. although it would be easier getting the dogs on and off I cannot (Yet) spend that amount (well it's parents buying so it's what they can afford)
