Can someone tell me about tracking collars, are they reliable and can they find my dog within a couple of feet or is it just 'somewhere' nearby? and what range etc.

My dogs good with recals but has started going fair distances (maybe over 400 metres )and into woods, Its the woods that I have problem with because sounds just give poor direction accuracy in woods and wind and if they head off after a call in the opposite direction they could go miles away and lost, I dont want to restrict his excersise because of it-any info please.
