I have a litter of lovely pups at the moment and they are at the side of the bed, as mums a real baby and sleeps on my bed normally, so I thought she would like to be close etc.
In the night when I am there she sleeps in the bed with the pups perfectly.
In the day time she takes the pups and scatters them all over the bed room, pulls her soft bed of the heat pad, drags it around the room, first I though she does not like the heat pad but she stills moves the bed when its off the pad and I dont know why she does this, is it because she is upset I am not there or what, I am worried as the pups are only a day or two old and will get cold as they are only a topy breed. H E L P ! !

Most of us spend the first week, sitting/sleeping with our litters - so mum feels confident and doesn'tneed to move her babies around.

I'm only guessing, but to me it sounds as though she doesn't feel her pups are in a safe place when you're not there. When you're away she's looking for a safe place for her nest. I always put the whelping box under a table with curtains all around so that it makes a warm dark 'den' as I've found the bitches are much more relaxed like that. Is there any way you could do a similar thing?
