My Sammy is pregnant and 8-9 weeks gone, can anybody tell me what to look for when labour is starting.

She is used to her whelping box now, but started to scratch it up yesterday. This morning we were awoken at 6 o clock by loud yelps and rushed downstairs but she appeared fine. Her milk is starting to come through and she is getting more and more restless.

Please tell me what to expect!
Thanks,
Elaine

It sounds like it will be in the next 24 hrs, dont leave her side for one minute, even if she goes for  a wee !!

At this stage you should be sleeping with the bitch, either her in your bedroom or you beside her whelping box!  Please don't leave this bitch alone incase she need you to help or intervene.

Hi guest
I think you'll find admin will edit your post since your inclusion of your website addy makes it as good as advertising

As the others have said you shouldn't leave a bitch this late on in pregnancy.  My mum and I sleep on the sofa for a week before they are due as they can be born a week before the expected due date and up to a week after the expected date.

I would have thought you would have done your research BEFORE breeding but then looking at your site you didn't even research the breed before you purchased it and then it would seem there has been no research into compatability, pedigrees, health tests etc either. If you brought thee dogs from somewhere that has multiple breeds as your website infers they are probably from a puupy farm and should not have been bred from in the first place.

Is there something wrong with me, I can't see a web addy?

I think Admin has moved it - it was rather worrying really - didn't seem as if there has been much research done before this breeding :(

I think suggesting any research had been done at all is an exaggeration, Margot. :(

Lol! :D

With such a complete diary about the dogs it's hard to imagine why they omitted their joy at finding the dogs both have good hipscores and complementary pedigrees (not too close, not too distant) for them to be mated together, for example. An oversight, I'm sure.

No doubt!  Like the fact that she is 8-9 weeks gone! :)
