- By sallyj123 [gb] Date 19.02.05 08:23 UTC
My pup has been whining constantly over the last few days, his breathing can sometimes a bit odd he breaths deeply and shivers alot but when he is running around he is fine, and he is eating, he has had an upset tummy which he has been under the vet for, could he have a cold ? could it be teething? I have spent a fortune at the vets in the short time I have had him, He is dobermann is that is any help

Hi,

I would contact your puppies breeder and talk things over with them. How old is your puppy and what treatments has he been having???

I hope he is feeling better soon

just to give an update and to warn other people the pup was having a reaction to the cleaner I was using to clean his mess of the carpets and floor.
He is fine now

Glad to hear you've solved the problem sally.  Thanks for letting everyone know.
Out of interest, what cleaner were you using?

Best wishes, Teri ;)

The cleaner I was using was Vanish Powershot even after the carpet was dry it must have left a residue, because if it had been used anywhere near his bed even a few hours before he started this difficulty with his breathing. I was always very careful not to let him get near it when I was using it. but now I only use bio soap powder with water.

Thanks for that Sally - it's always worth knowing in case anyone reading this uses the same product.

Regards, Teri :)

Im glad i invested in a bissel lol.
I have one of the little hand held ones for the smaller jobs, a big one for the twice yearly scrub up, and the shampoo that came with it was fine.
Thakkf or letting us all know tho :)

As far as a carpet cleaner goes yeah lol. Ive managed to keep my carpet looking brand new for three years with 6 dogs with it so i can't complain. I found it much better than the VAX i had before it. That was supposed to help dry the carpet too but it just left them soaked.
For the price they are such a bargain too.

Which model have you got because I think you have just made my mind up for me, now I have got the pup not only is my whole house suffering with little mishaps, the hall carpet is taking a a pounding from him in and out to the garden

Hi Sally,

I have a Bissell too (the "Quickwash" model) and it's wonderful :) - I use it all the time!  The only thing I would say is that if I was buying again I'd get the larger model (about £200 as opposed to about £100) because it would be quicker (the cleaning head/brushes are 50% or so bigger) and it would hold more cleaning fluid in the tank etc.  The model I have is really only supposed to be what it says on the front, "quickwash",  but I in fact clean whole rooms with it - not just heavy traffic areas either ;)

I've got relatives with a Vax and can honestly say my little Bissell does a better (more thorough) job and - importantly to me - is REALLY good at sucking up any liquid so carpets are almost dry (touch dry) immediately.

HTH, regards Teri :)
