my american staff bitch is in her 9 th week and doesnt look very pregnant she has a bit of swollen nipples but i cant feel any pups and her belly isnt very big, last time she was huge and had 10 pups you could feel them moving at about 7 weeeks. should i get her scanned and see if she is in pup or is it dangerous to have it done as late as this? she is eating normally as wel last time she went off her food before she had her pups. she has put on a little bit of weight but not much do you think she could be pregnant?
Forgive my ignorance but arent American Staffs covered under the DDA?

Although they are not mentioned by name they do come under the catagory of 'pitbull type' and hence yes they are banned under the DDA....however some people think it doesn't matter and continue to break the law

Yes, pitbulls, any breed 'of pitbull type', and crosses of them are all banned and can be seized and destroyed.
there is one off a previous litter who getts taken to my little girls school all the time.i got one from the same litter they were advertized as non ped staff pups. my ex byfriend took her wen we split up! so the same people have been breeding them for atleast 3yrs! isnt there anything you can do to put a stop to it?

You'd have to tell the RSPCA and the police, and leave it up to them.

Hi Guest,

Have you at least had her checked over by your vet? If this is a genuine concern, that is the way to go - your vet will be able to hear the heartbeats to confirm pregnancy. It is dangerous to not know for sure if she is pregnant at this late stage as if she is and then allowed to go too far over her due date not only the pups but also your bitch could die :(

How on earth do these dogs get into the country?

They're probably descendants of (legal) dogs whose owners didn't obey the neutering law when the breed was banned.
