I really hate it here.
I can't even go skiing because of a back injury lol.
I think if i had children it would have been bareable as i would have stayed here for the better education, cleaner air and way of life. But, as it stands, im bored stiff lol.

The distilleries are great the first time you go, then family come up and after the 8th trip round its just plain boring lol. Plus it smells like smash!

I do know some people who have settled here quite happily and never intend to set food on English soil again. Its just not for me.

5 months and im back home, where i belong lol.

Yes but you get free samples every time you go (hic). I know what you mean it can take a long time to get involved in life in a new area and until you do it can feel very isolated. I have to say that I am not that keen on the snow bit but quite fancy the fact that we could afford a big house up there with no morgage, so more room for dogs.

If you are looking at moving up here it is worth visiting a few areas, talking to people who have already moved here etc etc. A bit like A Place in the Sun lol.
It is a beautiful area, if a little far away from the shows and decent shopping lol.
Snow dominates every aspect of life here, it can have you stuck for days so you need a very big freezer and a stock pile of dog food lol.
I am a very long way from a good vet (well my idea of a good vet lol) so a 4x4 is a must for any emergancies in bad weather.

One good thing is the fact that houses here come with gardens. I have just over an acre, giving me lots of room for pens, have three outbuildings for storing the doggy things and a fair sized house with room to have all of the dogs in at once and us all be comfortable in there together lol.

I doubt that we will move yet a while, but I have to say that a friend in kent has been snowed in for a couple of days now and I have a friend who lives in Texas - now thet really is isolated - 35 miles to the nearest supermarket and she is 'only' 70 miles from San Antonio! Last time I visited we went almost to the Mexican border and they said to me 'dont get bit by a rattler, if you do it will kill you in 2 hours and it is 3 to 4 hours to teh nearest andti venom. SO we just give you a gun...!'

They do own nearly 2000 acres in Texas though. More than enough room to run the dogs ;)

Sounds great.
I couldn't live there tho, faar to far away from civilisation for me lol.

Definately an acquired taste and made easier by the ability to live in another house nearer civilisation when you fancy it :D
