I have been reading, with interest, about the teeth cleaning function of raw bones.
I have two Chihuahua girls. Could anyone advise exactly what bones they might manage? They are normally fed a dry kibble food & will not tolerate any kind of tooth cleaning at all.
Thank you.

I have two large breed dogs and two poodles all of which get raw bones from the butcher, the poodles just get the smaller bones, although one of the poodles like to steal the big dogs ones for some reason!.  They get them for half an hour in the garden until they have stripped the meat off them and then they are taken away.  I have found a huge difference in the cleanliness of my dogs teeth since they started getting bones, and as their teeth are cleaner their breath smells so much better.  I try to give them a bone about once a week but depends on the weather as I refuse to let them have them in the house!  Just ask your butcher for  small bones, doesnt matter if they are a little on large side as after all your dogs dont need to carry them about they just have to chew at them.

I know a Pomeranian who is very partial to a rack of beef ribs ;)

You will be very surprised how well they manage.  A couple of my cats devour whole chicken wings to themselves and tackle some of the bones I get for my labradors!!

I just wanted to add not to give them cooked bones as they can splinter

:)
