I am just about to start to wean my litter of pups. I have been recommended pedigree puppy porridge by a friend who is a breeder. Is this the best feedstuff or can anyone recommend or offer any proven nutritious alternatives?
Thanks

We have had several posters report good results from using this.  Personally I make a puree from the complete that I will be rearing them on after starting them off lapping lactol, whatever suits really :)

I have used it a few times with success you just make it runny to begin with and then thicken it as the days do on. My bitches also love it and it is a great source for them I think when feeding puppies so happily let them eat it also.

After a week or so using it I start to add bits and bobs :-)

Hi.
I found the pedigree was hard to get hold of,
plus mine weren,t so keen anyway.
So this time i used baby weaning food like rice and the porridge with great results.

I use cheap rice pudding which is very runny as it helps them learn to lap quite quickly and it is also sweet so they love it. Tescos one is only 15p a can.  Once they have mastered that they move onto more lumpy stuff.  One advantage of it as well is it makes the mums clean them as it tastes yummy.

I use it every time - it's got probiotics in it, which is the attraction for me.   And it doesn't seem to upset them.  Messy , but what isn't???  Then onto whichever food you prefer, soaked, of course to start.
