Hi, a friend of mine has a 5 year old entire male and two neutered females, which she has re-homed with me due to moving abroad.
He is an excellent example of the breed and is a working dog. He is an excellent lead dog and i have taken him to a well known breeder who said he will make an excellent stud as he closely fits the breed standard. I know its too late to start showing him but i wanted to stud him with my girl.
I have had him hip scored and he has 2/1. His eyes are unaffected by HC and G. My girl has a hip score of 1/0 and unaffected eyes. Both are from excellent lines.
The problem is his breeder is unwilling to lift restrictions. Im not sure legally where i stand as the breeding contract exists with his previous owner, not me! I have done all the necessary health checks and have researched his pedigree and there are no problems as to why she doesn't want me to breed from this line. She knows i have breed litters in the past and has actually used a stud which i have bred! I haven't contacted the kennel club yet, but is there a way to lift these restrictions as the contract is nothing to do with me. many thanks Natasha Brinwell.

The breeder must have a good reason for having the restrictions..why don't you ask her?

The breeder placed those restrictions for the very reason that he or she did not want the dog bred from, at the very least, until certain conditions had been fulfilled. The KC should not lift them without the breeder's permission. That's the whole reason for endorsements in the first place. Only the breeder has the right to lift them so your only course of action is to ask the breeder. Put your self in the place of the breeder, how would you feel if a restriction you had put on a puppy was lifted without your permission?
Sorry but that's the whole point of endorsements.
Regards, John
My boy has no restrictions for breeding. My mums 2 (one bitch, one dog) of the same breed as mine both have breeding restrictions. Within my breed this tends to be due to negligent breeding in the past (not necessarily a problem within the line). Many breeders will put a restrction on their pups if they are going to a pet home to ensure that this does not happen. I can only suggest that you speak to the breeder and see if they will have the restriction lifted.
