Thanks to everyone who tried to help - finally contacted a breeder direct and she was able to inform me that the Breeder of our Bearded collies has sadly died of cancer.
It was amazing how everyone chipped in and grt to use the links to web pages - thankyou so much!
How-ever.......
Yes I am "Jo -public" - I love my 2 beardies and had great respect for the breeder so was going back to him the same way as i would any supplier of quality goods -I know I can trust him, he treated his dogs well and as pets. I'm sure most breeders do. But my knowledge is limited as someone arrogantly pointed out!!I don't think anyone needs to talk down to me because of it. I remembered the name Portterdale because it is frequently on the photos in my annual calender - not because I ignore any other line. I didn't know for sure if it was in my beardies line - and I don't actually care! Our dogs are family pets - we don't show them, or breed from them so it is no more important to me than anything else.

I was not being arrogant I just find it interesting that non dog people pick up on the names they hear/see mentioned & miss some of the other dogs in their pets pedigrees, your dog has a lot of Shirley Holmes(Edenborough)breeding & both she & Lesley (Coalacre)are still active. If you contact either of them I'm sure they will point you in the right direction for finding another pup.

Shirley owned & bred the legendary Percy(AKA Edenborough Blue Bracken) & still has some lovely dogs, Percy was the first superstar in Beardies long before some of the current top people even knew what a beardie was. He was a real showman & put the beardies on the map with his many group placements in the show world, he was however tfirst & foremost Shirleys pet & beloved companion, as in deed, all our dogs should

thanks for the help you have given me - i will be following through on your suggestions. sorry if I took offence but having had dogs all my life( but never professionally) I felt hurt that the experts looked at us as mere Jo public and being non dog people!
But you have been very helpful
thanks

I would suggest you join the bred club. You sound like you will enjoy reserching breed ad your won dogs history, and the annual perodicals (you can usually get back issues) have a wealth of information both serious, fun and historical as regards the brteeds development.

When you get your new pup over the coming months we expect to hear lots from you :D

I've replied to your other post with Yvonne's Tel number etc

No offence taken, I wasn't meaning that "the Gen public"know nothing about dogs but sometimes pople read or see a kennel name & presume that if it is the top kennel they always have the best dogs etc.  Sometimes the best kennels are behind the dogs in the top kennels & possibly don't breed or show much

I'm sure you will find the right puppy through the breed club

Hi Guest,
Good luck in finding  your new Beardie puppy,I've got a 20 month old and a 14 week old  my oldest is a Coalacre and the baby is Ramsgrove but the sire is Coalacre Lampoon .I think you just stay with who you know ,but they are all superb ,cuddly, amusing , sometimes naughty, extremely affectionate dogs I'd have lots but I'm running out of chairs with four cats and the old boy(not the hubby) my Rough Collie he's 15yrs young.

Good luck

Roni
