please help settle an argument, what kind of dog is scooby doo?
I think he is meant to be a great dane but my hubby says no because great danes dont come in brown with black patches but I read somewhere that they do its called fawn harlequin and its very rare.
Help me prove him wrong - he reckons scooby doo is meant to be like a coonhound or something

I have it on good authority from my Scooby Doo mad daughter :P that yes, he is definitely a Great Dane! Not sure about the colours though :)

Whatever the outcome Guest tell hubby he's wrong :D  Doesn't do to let them think they've won an argument :D :D :D

I kinda think you and Hairypooch are right anyway about the GD thing - but like I said, claim the winning side regardless.

Its Willis in disguise :D :D

Willis is in bad books this morning. I taught him to gently remove hats when requested to do so. Only last night I stupidly made a paper hat to amuse the kids (and myself) at the dinner table and the last thing I remember was Willis bounding up, a paw to the side of the head, and the serviette being forcibly removed with a big pair of pearly white slobbery Great Dane jaws. The kids say I was only out for a few minutes LOL :D :D

Apparently:

"When the artist who designed Scooby-Doo was sketching a first draft of the crime-busting canine, he consulted a fellow Hanna-Barbera employee who owned a prize-winning Great Dane. He told her to describe all the attributes that make a Dane great and drew Scooby as the exact opposite."

So, I suppose he is loosely based on a Great Dane-but he oviously didn't know much about their colours! Hope that helps! :)

how old is willis and has he been on tv?
- By thomas-the-spot [gb] Date 28.02.05 15:19 UTC
As someone who's parents owned a great dane he is definately based on one.  Both my mums and sisters ones were complete bungalows (nothing up top).  If you look at his ears they are like the american danes who's ears stick up.

I dont think willis has been on tv, but I think he probably should be.......
