Topic Dog Boards / Showing / I just can believe it!!

I just can't believe it! The puppies and I went to an open show yesterday and it was a first for us all. Having shown Lottie and Dougal earlier with Lottie winning third, Dougal winning second, best puppy in breed and forth best puppy in the terrier group. I then had to wait for the junior handling class which was scheduled for after 1:30pm. Two and a half hours later the junior were called into the ring and I watched the 6-11 class. I then went into the ring and was asked to do a triangle an up and down and a circle. Having entered the class thinking that I would be put 4/4 I was gobsmacked when the just handed me first place! I honestly thought that she had made a mistake. She gave me a rosette and a lovely little engraved Celtic keyring. But what I was most pleased about was the chocolate bar! I then had to go in for best junior handler but the boy that I was up against was very good with his pointer. The judge came up to me afterwards and said that I came second because when she was going over Lottie I didn't notice that she moved Lottie's foot  :D  But she said that I could handle her CKCS's anytime! I will i have to buy the dog paper now as the critique will be in there along with the free picture that Dougal had took when he won BPIB and if it turned out all right a picture of the boy that won the 6-11 age group and me with Lottie.  I can't wait till my next show and then the semi-finals at Richmond in September. So I just want to thank all you champdogger who gave me loads of really good advice :D

really well done it is nice to hear of success of younger members.  My daughter is just starting to junior handle and absolutely loves it although she does get the hump when it clashes with the breed classes.

Wow well done sarah!  Which show was it? who was your judge?  I bet you deserved anything.  I believe one of the handling trainers at camp is very good ;) she will teach you lots!

It's really depressing being out of Junior handling now, I don't spend the day waiting for breed and handling to clash!!!!

Thanks again! :D

Ice-queen: It was the Sutton Coldfield district canine association and the judge was Jane Price ( bonnisbrooke cavalier king charles spaniels) She was really nice and a really good judge. I know what you mean about breed and handling clashing with each other. That is why we had to wait for two hours so everything could finish and even then there was a girl who had go out of the handling half way thought as she had to show her Doberman. It was worth the wait thought! :D Just can't wait to do it again now.

Vaguly recornise the name!  A good judge I do believe!!!

Now you got me think to why I didn't go to sutton coldfield, I normally do!!!  Ahh well!!!

Yes many time sI ahve had to leave the ring, or go in late!  My best time was getting in, while running down one end of the hall to the other (wood green) I handed rosette and rottie to its owner, and grabed aussie from grand parents (was going to handle the other one but they gave me my normal dog!) ran into the ring and it was my turn!  Did my stuff, got first!

However their are times when they wouldn't wait for me :(  So whens your next show? counting the days yet? :D
