OUR DOG HAS A RASH ALL OVER HIS BODY. THE VET HAS TOLD US HE IS ALLERGIC TO SOMETHING. THE RASH LOOKS LIKE LITTLE SCABS. HIS COAT IS BECOMING BALD IN PLACES & HIS SKIN IS VERY DRY. WHEN WE BRUSH HIM IT LOOKS LIKE DANDRUFF. WE ARE 1ST TIME OWNERS OF THE DOGUE DE BORDEAUX & WE LIVE IN GERMANY SO FIND IT DIFFICULT TO FIND OUT ABOUT THE BREED. WE WOULD BE GRATEFUL FOR ANY ADVICE. THANKS,
The dogue de bordeaux can be proan to certain skin conditions, Have you tried gradually changing his food. I have seen food cause this before in the dogue de bordeaux or having too much protien in there diet can cause this. Have you checked to see if any of his parents suffer from anything like this. Also have a scrape done by your vet to check for mange, this is worth ruling out.
I have seen the protein thing before. It is basically where the liver cannot process all of the protein in the diet and it comes out as a skin problems filthy ears etc.
I have also seen a hweat gluten allergy send a dog bald and leave patchy rough flakey skin. Sonething as simple as changing onto a hypoallergenic food (sensitive, lamb, fish or chicken and rice recipy) can sort a multitude of problems.
If i were you i would get to a vet and have scrapes done, it could be anything and you need to rule out things like mange etc.
I hope the problem is fixed soon.
