my bitch has one week to go, but she doesnt seem to be very big, she has sprungout at the ribs and everything looks fine.has any staff breeders had  small litters or are they just  well hidden. when she was scanned the vet see four pups.

Staffies tend to carry under their ribs - so the owner of the stud dog I use told me.

I asked him the same question when my bitch looked small.

I hope this help & hopefully someone with more experience will be along soon to advise!

is this her first litter? if so then all is still tight and she will carry them high, if you bred her again she may look bigger but still have the same number of pups

I guess it just depends...

yes it is her first litter. she  has 'dropped' a bit also i have been taking her temp and it is only 97.7 has been for two weeks. ive got the book of the bitch i think it's abit low! any thoughts

My first reply is 'don't panic' for a start your girl has not read the book so doesn't know what temp erature she should have and if it is really cold outside her temp is going to dip slightly accordingly.  Let nature take it's course and she will start digging, making beds etc, give her loads of newspaper to work with and be patient.  You have only got to start worrying if she has been pushing for a while and no puppy or sac has appeared.
