Hi everyone,

I was wondering whether these items could be purchased from the canine chemist? I had a catalogue for them a while ago, but seem to of lost it. Have they a website? I couldn't find one.
        I was also wondering without sounding dumb, what they were used for exactly? My lil' girl is nearly 7 weeks pregnant and i know that these come in useful during whelping, but i was never quite sure what the were used for. Also Arnica? if thats how you spell it? I remember someone mentioning this too me as being useful. We try and use Homeopathic methods as much as we can, so if anyone could tell me whether Dropram V, Calciboost, Nutridrops. are ok, looking at it from that perspective. Oh and one last thing, Nosodes, now we used these on our dogs, but arn't to sure on when exactly you start to use them on puppies, as our dogs had already started their program of them when they came home. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

This is what you are looking for.   I didn't actually use anything that I had bought when my bitch whelped despite having it all!  Canine Chemist were really good and delivery is very fast.   Why not contact a homeopathic vet who will help you with the nosodes.  As for arnica, there has been research done to suggest it has no effect whatsoever (Exeter University I think), [so my consultant told me recently], but if it works for you then go for it.  I think Canine Chemist do it too.

Hi Betty, Dopram V is a respiratory stimulant. If a puppy is not breathing properly it helps it to get started. Nutridrops is a high energy nutrient rich liquid that is easily absorbed. Calciboost is a calcium supplement. I don't keep Calciboost, but always have Dopram and Nutridrops to hand. I'd never actually used the Nutridrops until I whelped a bitch for someone else a year ago. Everything went pear shaped and the bitch had to have an emergency Caesarian Section. Most of the pups were given Dopram V by the vet nurses, and it got them going a treat. Then the bitch rejected the litter and they had to be hand reared. Two of them were very tiny and didn't have the energy to suck enough from the bottle during the first few days so they got Nutridrops as well as their feeds and perked up well. I wouldn't be without either. Emergency treatment of eclampsia is the only reason I can think of for having Calciboost and an eclamptic bitch really seeds a vet and calcium by injection stat.

My bitches have always done just fine without arnica. If the bitch has an infection she needs antibiotics, end of story. If she has pain, she needs proper pain relief.

Please, please don't depend on nosodes to protect your puppies. There is no evidence that homeopathic nodoses (or homeopathy) work. None. Zero. Zilch. Nil. Adult dogs get away with this "treatment" because most people DO vaccinate properly so there is a low level of infection in the dog community, and because puppy vaccines probably do confer long term immunity from the viral diseases. But that won't do your pups any good if someone does bring parvo into the house. Some years ago I watched a friend's litter die of parvo and I promise you it wasn't pretty.
