No its not true.  Dog licences used to cost 37 1/2 pence but were phased out quite a long time ago when I was young.

I live in N Ireland and here we need dog licence for each doggie

I live in Scotland, and we don't have a dog licence either ;) I think what you meant was on Mainland Britain, we no longer need a licence, though I have heard (don't know if it's true) that you can get a hunting licence from the post office just in case your dogs are caught chasing rabbits, etc :D Might just be a rumour though.

We have to have a dog licence in the Isle of Man.

Sorry about that, Geography never was my strongest point.  I haven't heard about the hunting licence, but I don't think I need worry about that somehow because we have only got a Bichon Frise and if he caught a rabbit he would probably lick it to death.
