Well seeing as it is the first time in 2 yrs since I have had to lead train a dog, I put the lead on Callia toad yesterday, (she is now used to her collar) and the usual "toad mode" behaviour started.
First I let her sniff it and get used to it, then she chased it and bit it for all it's worth :P I eventually picked it up and on the very rare 2 second occasion that she left the damn thing alone I gave her a treat. I haven't exerted any pressure on it and haven't actually used it as a "lead" yet. Did the same thing for 10 minutes today and of course the big game started again.
I'm only doing it in the kitchen at the moment, then hope to progress to the garden  preferably some time this year :D But as I am taking her out in the car and carrying her (for 5 mins before my arms drop off) I feel safer having her lead on and know that the sooner she gets used to it the better it will be for both of us.
She hates the car and does what most of her breed do when in it, ie, drool everywhere until it looks like she and the car has had a shower, only taken her 3 miles down the road and back but at this stage if any longer I know she'll be sick so don't want to push it. (will be doing the feeding in the stationary car bit soon)
I'd forgotten all of the silly things that you take for granted with adult dogs and also forgotten how on earth I got them to the stage they're at today. Any reminders or advice please :)
