I would greatly appreciate some help. I am finally in a position where I can give a good home to a dog. I am moving to a nice spacious house, with a nice sized garden close to the downs (lots of walks!). My partner and I also have some experience with german shepherds as both of us grew up wth the breed as family pets. Now I am looking for a breeder with litters planned for this year (preferably around the late April/May/onwards mark). I would like a long haired german shepherd. I would love a silver sable, but would obviously much prefer a reputable breeder and a dog with a good temperament and healthy hip score than have a colour preference. I did find a website for a breeder with a litter of silver sables and whites planned for March, but I was concerned that the hip score of both the parents was rather high (well over 20 in the case of the mother). What I would like is for people to suggest breeders that they know are reputable, who produce long coat german shepherds, with litters planned for late easter onwards (and if anyone knows of any silver sable litter that would be nice too!) I would prefer the south-east, but am more than willing to travel for a good breeder.

I can give you details of a litter which will definitey have silver sables in it.

Whatever colour, coat length ot type you choose Please make sure that both parents are hip cored & that the male is haemophillia tested & of course see the mother away from the puppies of course & meet her to see what her temperament is like

A good breeder will also have had the puppies tattooed or microchipped & put the numbers on the registration certificate from the KC.

There are sadly lots of people out there breeding from GSDs that have lots of health problems(one breeder of "rare"non standard colour GSDs who breeds from her epileptic nervous bitch lives just up the road from me )
