Hi there
My family and I are looking to give either a black or golden female lab puppy a great loving home! we have 6 children to share our love and happy times together! Please contact us on email traceyandpaul69@hotmail.com
Thanks for your time
Tracey, Paul and family
P.S. We live in Northampton *U*
Most reputable breeders would expect you to contact them and not vice versa, also the correct term is a Yellow Lab I know it sounds petty, but any good breeder will take a dim view if you ask about a Golden lab ;)
Good luck in your search and do make sure the parents have had all the relevant health checks
liberty :)

With 6 children it may be worth considering a slightly older dog as the younger years can be very hard. Have you thought about rescue?

Hi guest,
We have a 4 month old labrador... YELLOW. I hated it when the first person pulled me up about that it mkes you feel like an idiot. As if you would be less likely to give a dog a good home because of that!
I don't know if this will apply to you I but I know that people have put up messages on are board in our local pet shop... people who have bought a pedigree lab and can't be bothered with it after a few weeks and advertise it to others. Also are local shelter has some 13 week old lab pups (unwanted christmas gifts!!!) Why don't you try in your area. If not put your name down with a reputable breeder in your area. It will be worth the wait believe me.

Lisa, when people phone me for a lab puppy and ask for a 'golden', I immediately know they have done absolutely NO research on the breed or they would know the correct term is Yellow. Its not just a case of getting the 'correct colour', it is a lifetime of work and knowing the puppy is going to a home that is ready and able to 'care' for the puppy. And yes, if someone asks me for a 'golden labrador', in my books, they go way down to the bottom of the list, and that list never gets shorter. Sorry, but thats how it is.

Believe it or not, I had read three books before making my descion and it was a slip of the tongue when I first said it! I am just saying it can sound very patronising. It is an honest mistake to make.

Appreciate that Lisa :) But you would not believe the calls I have had because someone wants
A) An Andrex puppy ??????
B) A golden labrador puppy like the one on the Andrex ad.
C) A Black Andrex dog, I ask you !!!!!
It tends to make us a little protective of our breed :D

Oh I can imagine...see enough of them under six months old in the RSPCA from people like that going out and buying dogs. But from my point of veiw some of the breeders I experienced were horrible.. kept their dogs outside in a cage all day, didn't get out for a walk and treated you like a dimwit.
Thankfully we found a breeder that genuinly cared for their dogs, put us first on the list and we still keep in touch with them now, we couldn't have a better dog. But I still have the memory of someone treating me like I was one of them as you mentioned because I once slipped 'golden'.
The same thing happened with me when i got my first golden retriever, a breed that had been in my family for years i didn't do research as i went on experience and made the mistake of saying cream instead of pale as regards to colour. I don't use that term anymore, but when criticised i took it with a pinch of salt as i did not love my dog any less. As regards to doing research i realise that is important but i didn't do any from text book as i had hands on experience of the breed.

Thank you, Louise I totally agree with you. It does not always do well to read reems of text book, and it doesn't mean you love your dog any less cream or pale hey?
