Ooh she looks very regal in that pose sitting by the door buffy :)

I met my first Briard in France and fell hook line & sinker. I now have 2 of them. My eldest, Murf was chosen because he had attitude. He is understanding when I have pmt, when I am in pain, when I fall about laughing at him and extract the urine from him because he isn't the sharpest tool in the box, he's cuddly with a welcoming lick whenever I need it (and when I don't) when everyone else hates me, he doesn't :P I could go on all day. As well as being totally physic (SP?)

My GSD is totally selfish, has attitude, guards me to the death, (even when I don't want her to) and is most neurotic, well, she was a rescue and nobody would go near her cage because of her "bad attitude". And my baby Briard, Callia is 8 weeks old today and is all teeth and waggy tails at the moment, so I will refrain from commenting :D She was chosen because she seemed the most laid back in the litter, I am now learning differently :D

I got my first JR because the person who had her before me was going to drown her as he couldnt stand her.  I must admit after living with her a few weeks the idea did cross my mind :)

The dallies well I hate to say it but the whole family loved the film and they fitted the bill for me being incredibly short haired, full of life, about the right size and also being incredibly elegant and beautiful dogs.  I was torn between them and Wieneramers (not sure if that is spelt right).  It was the best decision we ever made although for the first two years of Purdys life I swore never to have another as she was the most bloody minded, destructive and annoying animal I had ever met.  NOW I LOVE HER TO BITS and her 3 offspring.

I watched Magnum P.I. as a kid and fell in love with Apollo and Zeus I had to wait 20 years until I was in a position to have Abby.

I have just seen Buffy, she is so beautiful and elegant!!!!!

I have a lovely 12 year old pug called Ollie, we got him when he was 8 after his elderly owner died. I was seeing practice at the time and thats where I met him, he already had a fair few health problems and with his age into account nobody was willing to offer the poor baby a home. :( :(  :(
He had been his owners only companion for his whole life, and did not deserve this. I fell in love with him straight away, he looked so sad just lying there with his blanket in the kennel, he was just curled up and would not look at people, as if he was waiting to go home. :(
After carefully discussing it with my family, who all came in to visit him, we decided to adopt him.

Four years later we are still blessed by our wonderful brave little dog who has become the most loyal companion to us. He has had many happy times since he has become part of our family, and even if he only has 3 teeth left and arthritis, he still enjoys his food and little walks! He also loves to have visitors (dogs and people) and enjoys being the centre of attention all the time! He has come such a long way since we first met him, and I take inspiration from his stregth!

Ky we picked after we decided we couldnt live without a dog.  We had gone without one for about six months.  Ky hid behind a piece of wood and wouldnt come out despite the fact that you are told to go for the one that is confident.  He is a lovely dog, has his problems but wouldnt swop him for the world.

JC was picked for us.  Was going to be drowned and got a call from a friend that he was.  Quick trip up to north devon and back came a very small (runt) pup of the litter.  He has chewed everything in sight but who cares, they are only wooden objects.  14 months on and he has started agility and I think everything is going well.  Put it this way I enjoy it, he enjoys it and if we make it to competition brilliant if we dont what the hell!

We ended up with chockie labs as I wanted a lab and Hubby wanted a rottie 'because he liked the colour and attitude :o
- By dudleyl [gb] Date 21.02.05 14:46 UTC
when we got our first lab it was a question of he chose us.  There were 4 puppies left who came tumbling out of the kennel when we arrived to see them, and on squatting down on the grass I was literally bowled over by him!!!

We were offered a staffy pup seventeen years ago :)
Sam has now passed away but we have two others at present and have fell hook line and sinker for the breed since we were first introduced to Sam :)

Oh we were chosen by both our pups once we had decided on a litter - they both went and sat at OHs feet looking at him adoringly. It works for animals every time.

Both my Oh and I have always lived with dogs, but when my daughter at the age of 7 said she wanted a pet we said "when you are 8" - she decided that she would have a small pet i.e. a hamster, gerbil or a long tail (we are not allowed to say RAT in the Isle of Man - Bad Luck), well I hate these furry creatures. She befriended the local pet shop owner, and two weeks before her 8th birthday she brought around to the pet shop, I took one look at the RODENTS, and decided she's having a dog.

The very next day an advert appeared in our local paper about a litter of labs, and we've been hooked since.

She still hankers for a RODENT, but I've said when she moves out.

My dog picked me....
He was sitting in his kennel with another rescue dog that was barking his head off. Barnies head was titlted, ears pointed up and big brown eyes that melted me, he had to come home with me then, so that's how I got my 4 year old collie X GSD nearly 8 years ago.
As for the Staffie - he came as part of a package when my boyfriend moved in..... sweet dog, but would not have another one purely on the smell.

Millie (Scottie) was one of two left - both bitches.  By email the breeder told me that one was really quiet with a grey beard and one was really cute and cuddly with a white blaze on her chest. I kind of wanted the cute and cuddly one.  When we visited, she then told me that the other lady coming to see them tomorrow had indicated she would like the quiet one but as I was there first it was my choice.  But that suited me.

Then we were told how Millie had a thing about walking backwards.  We took both puppies into her dining room, one was sat quietly in my arms, the other (Millie) was climbing all over OH, wouldn't sit still, biting him, investigating him...he put her on the table and she explored the whole dining table, mainly walking backwards and was a right little character whilst the other still sat quietly in my arms.  I knew Miss Mischevious was the one for us.  When we returned them back to mum, one of the breeder's little girls said "one of them's really weird, she walks backwards and is always rolling over to have her tummy tickled".  "Yep, that's the one I'm having!".

Funnily enough, she rarely does either now!

Its a strange thing but all my dogs seem to have been chosen for me in some way or another.
Megan chose me, we bonded from day one.
Connie, I wanted an ESS for FT and all the litter were running around, and at 4 weeks, Connie's 1st retrieve was to bring me a stinking rotton onion from the rubbish and plonk it straight into my hand
Penny, I agreed to 'foster'  her until owner was able to. 4 years later she is still here (and now mine)
Emma, I was looking for another Lab puppy and got Emma who was then 4years old
Bailey, His breeder knew I was looking for a yellow dog to show, and she picked him for me
Tia, well I did choose her, but I had to wait until a lady came from America to take a pick of 3 pups from the litter, thankfully she didnt choose Tia.
Summer, was a toss up between her and another bitch, the breeder decided which was the better for the showring.  (Tia and Summer are from same breeder)
And little Ellie, was the only bitch in my  Emmas litter, and as it turns out, a real cracker :D
