Hi all
I am interested to find out if you have more than two dogs, do they all have a specific place to walk? Now that my youngest is able to be walked with the older girls they all have their place. My oldest girl walks on my right hand side as she is happy to walk either side, my middle girl walks on my left hand side as I have always taught my puppies that they should walk on the left. I tried moving her over when I started to take my youngest out, but she refused point blank to walk on the right hand side with my older girl. I started my youngest between my middle girl and myself on the left, but she hates being there and will not settle until she is on the ouside of my middle girl. I just wondered if this could have anything to do with pack order or if I am just reading too much into it as I usually do :D

Mine all walk on the left (currently 3 and at one time 4) but all jostle for position to be nearest my leg :D On the downside leads tend to get VERY tangled but on the plus side at least this means they don't trip ME up!
Regards, Teri :P

I walk 5 aleays on the left and the leads get a bit twisted keeping them tidily together (I use same kind of lead in 5 different colours).
My Jozi (2nd youngest) always walks closest to me, and my oldest and middle ones like to be on the outside or behind the others best, and the other two fit in whereever.

Occasionally I take the big girls out for a walk with the pups 5 and 7 months just for an extra walk. So I have 5 at any one time. Ellie does not care what side she walks on as long as she is next to me. Tia walks on the outside right to Ellie on the inside. Summer walks on my left inside, Penny and Emma always walk on my left, but they alternate every 5 mins or so as to who goes on the outside. They do this automatically, When Penny is on the outside shefalls back and comes inbetween Summer and Emma and walk for around 5 mins, then Emma does exactly the same thing. I have not taught them this, they seemed to have worked it out amicably for themselves. Tia always walks on my right as Bailey had strict heelwork on my left when training as a puppy. When the big girls are out without the pups, Tia again always on my right, Emma and Penny still alternate.
Oh dear, I have just thought about the team show we are doing and not one of them will be in correct positions, which will be Ellie outside left, Summer middle left and Tia inside left. Oooooh this should be fun :D

I'm sure you'll cope admirably and have a huge amount of fun anyway. I did think about trying Brace with two of mine but don't have the faintest idea where to start. My baby is 13 months now and Mum is 3 so does this make a huge difference? Do they have to be similar ages? I had thought it might be good to help settle the wee one down and encourage Mum on a bit as she tends to wander around the ring at her own pace, which tends to be as fast as she feels like going on the day :D

With Siberians it is relatively straightforward. They all want to be in front so they all stretch out the leads to their full extent, swapping places constantly throughout the walk until the lead is so tightly plaited that they either stay in the same position or I have to stop and unravel them. At which point it all starts again.
:D My bitch prefers to walk on the right, so my dog tends to walk on the left (both a few ft in front of me unless i'm doing heel work/road work)
