Topic Dog Boards / Showing / Help needed with filling out entry form!
- By chud [gb] Date 20.02.05 16:26 UTC
Hello there....

Hopefully someone out there will be able to help me..... I'm just filling out an entry form for a dog show and am unsure what to put in certain boxes!!..  (its my 1st go at showing) Please could you let me know:

a) what the atc no. is..... would this be the registration no which I got from the kennel club???....
b) what is the difference between a CC breed and a non CC breed? (not sure what to pay!!)
c) above one of the boxes to be filled out is the letter 'D'..... any ideas what this means?
d) my puppy fits both the 'minor' puppy dog class & puppy class.  Should I be entering him for both?

many many thanks :)x

Hi Chud,

a)the ATC number is for dogs from overseas who wish to compete at UK events

b) CCs are Challenge Certificates - only available to specific breeds at Championship shows.  Breeds with CCs on offer will be listed as such on the schedule.  Several breeds will be listed separately (or with an * by their breed) to sya they don't have Ccs on offer

c) box for letter is re. declaring sex of entered dog, ie. D (dog) or B (bitch)

d) re minor puppy and puppy classes, it's perfectly acceptable to enter both with a youngster - it gives the puppy a little more practice time in the ring (although it will usually be the same judge so not gone over a second time) and if a champ show gives you two opportunities to qualify for Crufts 2006.

HTH,
VERY good luck ON YOUR NEW HOBBY :P

I presume it is a Champ show you are entering ?

You do not as yet need to enter your dogs KC number at breed shows the ATC number is for dogs from abroad only

Your dogs details are entered as follows
1st box dogs name exactly as reg at the KC
2nd box the breed
3rd box the sex D for dog B for bitch
4th box full dob day/month/year
5th box breeder if you bred the dog it is Exh if not then the breeder(s)as reg at KC
6th box fathers name from the KC cert
7th box mothers name from KC cert
8th box the number of the class to be entered in(I always add the class eg MPD(Minor Puppy Dog)
If in the schedule Challenge Certificates are offered then you pay the CC breed rate if they are not then the non CC breed rate is due
Most people enter in the lowest age class so for your boy this would be Minor Puppy then he will only be against dogs upto 9 months of age

Hope this helps

ROFLMAO I have just been going through an entry form with an exhibitor over the phone(not for my show but another one)& I faxed her the above mind you I did tell her without one<groan>that makes me feel very very old been filling them in for over 40 years

Edited to add don't forget to get a proof of posting from the PO so even if your entry gets lost you can still show your dog LOL I love on line entering !!!

ATC is nothing to worry about unless your dog is abroad (Authoroty to Compete)
On the breed classes form you will see if CC are being awarded and are always higher fees than non cc.
Cant think about the D
You can either enter minor pup alone or do both.
I tend to do both with new pups till they are qualified for Crufts as its another bite of the cherry for a few pounds more.

a) you do not need to worry about this unless you are coming from abroad.
b)if you look at the part of the sched where your classes are listed you will see under the breed name ...KENNEL CLUB CHALLENGE CERTIFICATE DOG/BITCH.This means it is a CC breed...if there is no mention of it then the breed has no CC's on offer.
c)...not seen this before? Dor B...means dog or bitch.
d) That is up to you.You can enter both or just one(minor puppy would be better).I don't like to do more than 1 class per dog...but thats my choice....

oh no.... I'm stuck again!!...  Just noticed that on the entry form is says to  'use a separate form for each owner'......  does that mean that if my puppy is owned by me and my partner, I need to complete 2 forms???  I have already written both my name and my partners on the one entry form.....
- By Teri Date 20.02.05 17:06 UTC
Hi again Chud

No, you only need to use a separate form when entering more than one dog and each of which is owned differently - hope that's clear :P  Your co-owned dog only needs to be entered with both your names on the one form.

MM was right about getting a Proof of Posting form BTW - it's become the essential accessory of the show going fraternity - only marginally beaten by the actual dog :D
