Topic Dog Boards / Visitors Questions / European Standard Poodle

I recently saw a 21 pound full grown poodle whose owner told me he was a European Standard or Small Standard Poodle. I can't find anything like him on the internet. He was beautiful. Was he a small standard? Is there such a thing?
Thanks,

Poodles come in three sizes divided by height & not weight(mini dachshund are the only breed that has a weight limit)

Poodles in the UK are divided as follows

Poodles (Standard): over 38 cms (15 ins).
Poodles (Miniature): height at shoulder should be under 38 cms (15 ins) but not under 28 cms (11 ins).
Poodles (Toy): height at shoulder should be under 28 cms (11 ins).

If the dog is bred from Miniature parents & goes over 15 ins or is under 11ins it is still a miniature just an over sized one or an undersized(same applies to over 11 inch Toys)

If the dogs is from Standard parents & is under 15 inches it is still a standard just an under sized one

There is no inter breeding between the sizes allowed if the dogs are to be registered on the breed register as poodles

The sizes might be different abroad, but in the UK the above applies quite rigidly(Although I do know of an oversized Miniature that has 2 CCs but that is another story ;))
