Hiya, I was wondering whether anyone could help me out, me and my partner have recently bought a labrador puppy. I am really keen to make sure that he is properly socialised but I don't know of any puppy socialization classes in my area (Cardiff) and as we haven't lived here that long we don't have many people we can take the pup to see. I wondered if anyone knew of any classes in this area, or who has a pup in this area that maybe we could introduce? Thankyou for your help, Sarah.

Hiya! How lovely, we have a new Labrador pup too ours is 4 months old - Ralph. What about yours? I am in Liverpool so I have no clue about classes in your area, sorry. Try the kennel club site or your breeder will probably know of somewhere. I think you are doing the right thing, Ralph has gone to classes since he was fully vaccinated. To my suprise his sister was at the class also - and he hid between my legs - didn't seem to recognise her at all and they had only been apart for 3 weeks! Your puppy will probably stay close to you for the first few visits Ralph did. Now though he greats all of the dogs with a friendly sniff and a lick.

I would try asking your vet they normally have some idea of where training classes are held and may even run a puppy class themselves, my vets do and it was very good for the puppies

Thanks for the advice, I will ask my vet, unfortunately my breeder lives about 100 miles away so I don't think she'd know anywhere around here. I found a puppy class but it doesn't start until Kobi is 16 week old, and I know that it's the sooner the better with socialization. At the moment he is only 9 weeks old and has had his first injections, he is settling in very fast and seems to be taking everything in his stride, nothing phases him at the monet which is why I wanted him to meet other dogs and people as soon as poss.
