Dont know if you remember me and my last post about Lizzy and her 3 scans which all said she had missed, However I was sure she was expecting so the vet did a blood test and yes she is!!
She is now on day 58, She has grown quite a bit however i dont think there is many pups there i have seen bigger , this is her first litter so things should be tighter and in the right place, if you know what i mean. she is doing everything at the right time, off her food restless and digging in her box throwing the news papers about, her belly has dropped a little and her back bone is pointed if you know what I mean. My BIG worry is ,  I cant and never have felt or seen any movement.She is not the type of dog that lyes still letting you feel about, but even just watching her sides i havent seen anything. Lizzy is the picture of health and is really happy just waiting for next wednesday. Me, i worry for england . Has anyone never felt or seen movement or is it just me

I hasve rarely seen or felt movemetn in my Elkhound bitches, especially in their first or second litters.  Have never had more than 3 from any bitch.  My bitches get a lot of excersise and are usually very fit.

I have seen pup movement before in my freinds staffy bitch....but don't think its a 'necessity' for a bitch in whelp if you know what I mean

Have you not tried a stethoscope?? you can hear the heart beats.  When they are this far on it is sometimes a bit more difficult to count numbers. The easiness of it varies I think from breed to breed .

my staffy bitch is on day 49 and although she resembles a barrel ihavent seen any movement at all. but the scan she had showed all pups doing well.I know how nerve wreaking it is ,. this is our first litter and all i do is worry!

I have found when my girls get towards the end there is not always a lot of movement as they havent got much room to move around. I think it is natural to feel panicky especially with the luck you have had.

I couldn't hear any heart beats with either of my girls, one had 8 pups the other 7.........even my vet couldn't pick up the heart beats with a stethoscope which I must admit worried me a bit at the time!!  But everything was fine, first movement felt day 45 with the litter of 7, day 47 with the litter of 8.

I even bought a good stethescope and sat for hours listening, still couldn't pick anything up.........lol.

I have always been able to both see and feel puppy movements by gently  but firmly pressing bitches abdomen whils lying down. The bitches seem to quite like it too :)

Same here Sam. In fact with one litter if I pressed on one of the puppy's, not too hard of course, it got quite cross and lashed out with vigour :D She only had two in that litter so I knew which one it was when they were born :) Quite feisty as well she was. She tried to take on her mum at 5 weeks old, Little Madam :D
