hello all,
My dog likes to go onto the window sills; front paws on the the window sill and back legs on the bean bag, near the window sill. Today, when she got a bit anxious and looking for somebody who had just left the house she climbed fully onto the sill; and in a different room she kept jumping up and looking. I am worried that she will knock ornaments and plants off the window sills or worse even hurt herself! What can i do to prevent her harming herself and ornaments and plants without moving anything, i know that a crate or keeping her out the room may be options but what if we are in the room and can't keep getting up and down to remove her?

My Large Munsterlander likes to sit on the window sill. It's 6 inches wide

I just don't leave anything on the sills anymore. It's a lot safer, and easier to clean ;)

Dogs are very nosey animals, and unless you are prepared to put a barrier of some sort in the way then you may have to crate, or just put up with it :) I moved a chair under the window so that my dogs could sit on the chair and look out, only now all 3 sit there. :D

My eldest dog does the same, we have reasonably low sills and he likes to lay on it looking out. I didnt bother about it and just cleared the sill, its something he loves to do and he is a great dog so i figure its the least i can do :)

You get used to there being nothing on it after a while and now i cant stand to have anything on any of them, it looks cluttered to me lol.

The first thing that you could do would be to remove the bag or chair that she uses to lift herseif up.. that might work, then again it may make her more determined. I suppose the real soloution is training, you cant spend all your time lifting her off.

Glazby our Boxer likes to sit on our window sill too!!  :D  We've now also rearranged the living room so that the sofa is under the window and he now sits like an old man on the arm of the sofa with is chin rested on the sill watching the world go by!!  :-)

All mine like to sit on the window sill and look out the window.  I was a little worried about Harvey - GWP - as it was quite a big drop and he seemed to land quite heavily on the floor.  We do have a chair next to the window but he would always leap down onto the floor.  I put a little coffee table underneath the window which he now stands on and looks out of the window :-D

Abby loves to sit on the window sill neighbours say she lokks like an ornament sitting very still.

I have at least ornament on the front window sill all the times somethimes there are two, three or even four LOLOLOL Yep my cavaliers make good window dressing ;)
